There are many more things that you need to consider when you're looking into restaurant building, but that said, looks and space do matter.
To begin, you will need to have a physical structure in which to house your restaurant. This might be a building that has already been built or you might start off with a completely new restaurant building. If you don't have a lot of money to spend, you might want to rent or lease a space for the beginning of your restaurant's life, as you might be able to expand into something larger when you begin to make money in your venture. If you do have a lot of money and the market seems to indicate that you will be successful, a new restaurant building might be a better choice for you - especially when you think you'll have a lot of customers to deal with in the beginning stages.
In order to choose the best the location for your restaurant building, you will want to do some research into the market of your venture. Talk with people in the neighborhoods that you're considering starting your restaurant to see what they want and what they are missing in their daily life. By being able to address the specific concerns of those that already live in that area, you will be able to create a concept that will be immediately successful in that specific area. Of course, the actual design of your restaurant building is another factor that you will need to consider. Depending on the types of foods you serve, you will need to have a dining room that can accommodate the traffic flow. For example, if you plan on serving a lot of bigger parties, you will need to have room for larger tables and setups. Or if you are looking to create a smaller and more intimate dining area, you will want to have a smaller setting that allows everyone to have their own space in the restaurant. Additionally, if you are planning for a buffet type of eating, you will need a different layout than you would with a sit down dining theme. Restaurant building also requires that you think about how the outside of the restaurant looks to prospective customers. If you want to showcase the theme of your menu immediately, you can do so with the décor you choose for the outside. For example, a Spanish flavored restaurant would do well with a stucco and red tiled exterior. First impressions do matter when you're in the business of feeding and serving people. So, when it comes to restaurant building, you should put as much time into your looks as you do into the tastes.
