These ingredients, or keys, would be easy to remember and easy to implement into your day to day work. Managing a restaurant may be hard work, but learning how to do it well shouldn't be.

Key #1: Learn What Works

By reading a number of management books and theories, you will become well-versed in management techniques that work. But the study should actually be about you picking what works best for you and for your particular situation. Try to read as much as you can, but don't limit yourself to only one style of management or one set of guidelines. Attend management seminars and read books, surf internet sites, etc. You want to find out all the different perspectives there are and then find out what seems to work best for you.

Key #4: Be Patient

You are going to have days when you don't feel like anything is working in your restaurant business management plan. These are the days when you need to look at your goals and measure how closely you are meeting them. If you are, they you're on the right track. You aren't going to be able to make everyone happy all the time - especially staff members. But if you're consistently making your customers happy, you are still doing your job. In the end, how you manage is not as important as what the results are. If you can guide your employees to actions that support your financial goals as well as other goals you have for your restaurant, you have done the best job you can. And that's what counts.
